Another Successful Bingo Event by Linda Kubik

Bingo Winners
A very welcome group of thirty members headed to the Palomar Club House on a fine January afternoon to participate in the annual bingo & potluck event. (Biggest bingo turn out ever!) David & Barbara Estes were our gracious hosts, along with their set up helpers Tom & Joanne Blanck. The membership cooks brought along wonderful examples of their culinary skills to share throughout the event. There was a spread of tasty dishes that included meatballs, salads, rolls, desserts and all kinds of other goodies.
After everyone had their fill of all the food, President Charlie Simpson held a short meeting to let us know about upcoming events. Brad Leasor invited members to display their cars at the Antique Home & Garden Show to be held at the Horse Park March 14-18th. Lo Arnold distributed samples of a business size information card that members can give to individuals who might be interested in joining the club. The Blancks noted they are planning to host another picnic for the club, tentatively on the 3rd Saturday in June. Charlie encouraged anyone with ideas for tours to make sure they gave the information to a board member so they could be discussed at an upcoming planning meeting for 2012. Joe Vice reported that Virgie Jones was recuperating from a recent stroke and would appreciate visitors. Bob Jackson, Phil Shanks and the Eldridges were also noted as members continuing to go through physical challenges.
On to the games: Ray Szeluga & Charlie Simpson acted as callers for the day, as everyone diligently watched their cards hoping for the one last number they needed so they could be the first to shout “BINGO”! Brad Leasor & Mary Fettig were the luckiest players of the day, winning a record three times each. Other winners were David Estes, Gene Getchell, Joanne Blanck and Karen Blair. I do believe everyone, winners and non-winners, enjoyed their activities that afternoon and would jump at the chance to try their luck and fill their plates once again. I know I would!

President's Corner
We have had a mild winter so far. I hope it doesn’t snow this spring.
Our January pot luck and bingo meeting went well. We had about 30 people to attend. A big thanks to David and Barbara Estes for the use of their clubhouse.
Bingo winners were mostly Mary Fettig and Brad Leasor. Mary took her money and left for Florida. Brad has ordered a truck off the internet. We all had a lot of fun watching Mary and Brad win. Ha!
Please keep in mind the members who are having health problems.
On January 26th we had out first board meeting for this year. We got some good ideas for tours. Starting with February 18th this will be a Saturday and the plan is to go on a tour, have lunch and then go for pie and ice cream. For March, Brad Leasor is handling the car display at the Horse Park Antiques and Garden Show. We need signups by February 15th. See further details about these activities in the newsletter.
I hope to see you there…………. Charlie

Reminder: Have You Paid Your 2012 Dues Yet?
If not, it’s time to get the checkbook out and get it done for another year. The national club dues are $35 and the local club dues are $15 (single) or $20 (couple). The club treasurer, Linda Kubik can take care of both or just the local dues, whichever you prefer. If you’re mailing both to Linda, a single check is fine.
